Overview

For those who want to see Bhutan in its entirety, this is the definitive journey through the kingdom. It combines the west-to-east crossing with Haa in the west and, at the far end of the country, the extraordinary Merak and Sakteng villages of the Brokpa people. Merak and Sakteng are home to semi-nomadic communities who rear yaks and sheep, trade in butter and cheese, and wear distinctive dress woven from yak and sheep hair.
