Overview

Bhutan's rivers offer rare fishing for serious anglers, especially for the Golden Mahseer, one of the most coveted fish in Himalayan waters. Chocolate Mahseer, Snow Trout and Brown Trout also feature across the kingdom's rivers, from the south to the highland valleys. All fishing is catch-and-release and rooted in Bhutan's Buddhist reverence for life. Trips can range from half-day river outings to longer expeditions in the south, often paired with cultural visits.
