Overview
Bumthang is Bhutan's spiritual heartland and hosts several intimate festivals across the year, each with unique dances, fire ceremonies, and deep local meaning. The June Nimalung and Kurjey festivals offer close, village-scale Tsechu experiences with masked dances and sacred rituals. In October, Jakar Tsechu and Jambay Lhakhang Drup bring the valley into its most dramatic season, with the fire ceremony, Tercham sacred dance, and the raw, memorable Mewang fire blessing. These are some of the most deeply rooted and atmospheric festivals in the kingdom.
