Bird Watching
Expert-led birding for rare Himalayan species across habitats.
Overview
Bhutan is a birdwatcher's paradise, with around 770 species across a remarkably small country. Its intact forests and wide range of ecosystems support rare and endemic birds from subtropical lowlands to alpine meadows. The Phobjikha Valley is especially important for the Black-necked Crane, while the eastern and southern forests hold species such as the Rufous-necked Hornbill, Ward's Trogon, Satyr Tragopan and Himalayan Monal. Birding itineraries are best tailored to season and target species.
